Our Work
RECENT PROJECTS AND PARTNERSHIPS
St. Louis Digital Divide Initiative
St. Louis Community Foundation and Regional Business Council
In collaboration with the St. Louis Community Foundation and a diverse coalition of donors, CCRI partnered with Ernst & Young (EY) to analyze the digital divide in St. Louis and to craft actionable strategies to address it. Following the release of the formal reports, CCRI spent several months providing briefings across the civic, philanthropic, business, and governmental sectors, as well as at the community level.
Postsecondary Equity Network
Missouri College & Career Attainment Network (MOCAN)
In 2021, CCRI created an improved data collection plan and provided analysis for St. Louis Graduates’ Postsecondary Equity Network (PEN), a statewide coalition of colleges and universities committed to eliminating equity gaps in postsecondary educational attainment for low-income students and Black students. Further, in 2022, CCRI will assist PEN in expanding its analysis to include two-year and technical institutions.
Invest STL Regional Assessment
Invest STL
In 2021, CCRI supported the beginning stages of Invest STL’s development of a wealth building pilot, a region-wide assessment of resident displacement risk, assisted in several successful efforts to attract national funding to the region, and provided general research and data support for Invest STL on an interim basis. The success of the initial partnership was significantly expanded in early 2022. In addition to continuing as Invest STL’s data partner and providing general support in that role, CCRI is partnering on three key initiatives: neighborhood data analysis and benchmarking; wealth building pilot; and appraisal process reform.
St. Louis Music Initiative
In collaboration with Kranzberg Arts Foundation, Regional Arts Commission, and Sound Diplomacy
CCRI provided pro bono services to assist in the mapping and analysis of the musical ecosystem as an economic driver in the St. Louis region. This research quantifies the economic impact of St. Louis’ music industry and identifies opportunities for growth. CCRI provided integral project management in deploying a community survey about the music economy which Sound Diplomacy reported as record breaking in terms of number of submissions and quality of responses.
Chiron Community Giving Foundation
Chiron Community Giving Foundation (CCGF)
CCRI provided data, analysis, and strategic consulting support during the early days of the Chiron Fund and during the transition from a fund to a growing and impactful foundation focused on ensuring the most vulnerable individuals in a community have the supports necessary to bring stability to their lives and in turn strengthen their communities. Currently, CCRI is supporting the continued growth and impact of CCGF through research and analysis of the mental health landscape and inequities in the St. Louis region. This report will provide the basis for CCGF’s strategy and investments over the coming years. Additionally, because of CCRI’s work to date, the CCRI team has been incorporated into CCGF’s senior leadership team and in this role provides strategic guidance and consulting support.
Transfer of Wealth Study
Alliance of Missouri Community Foundations
In 2022, the Alliance engaged CCRI to produce a transfer of wealth report for the state of Missouri which will provide research on the available resources that the foundations and other philanthropic organizations can draw upon. This data, along with detailed analysis from CCRI will provide a clearer understanding of their respective communities and support the development of long-term strategies and investments that maximize impact.
OUR PARTNERS
“Change always starts with good data and that’s what CCRI provides for MOCAN. Collecting and analyzing disaggregated data is essential to our collaborative work to transform Missouri’s postsecondary education system and move from equity talk to equity walk.”
– Laura Winter
Executive Director, Missouri College & Career Attainment Network
